The detail of "the splendid drag axle" is interesting, showing how a key holds the wheel in place but can be pulled out for quick disassembly. The key itself is held in place by gravity and a locking ring over the axle end. Immediately behind the key is the drag eye which allows a rope to be attached to allow extra sets of hands to be employed in pulling the cart.
